Thief drives away with motorcycles valued at $70,000

Last update: February 21, 2008 - 5:01 PM

A thief with big feet pulled up to a house in St. Cloud, Minn. and drove off with a trailer with two motorcycles inside. The bikes are worth $70,000, police said.

Police are looking for help in finding the suspect who took a white fiberglass Eagle Sport motorcycle trailer with rounded corners and chrome rims from a residence on the 2100 block of Red Fox Road sometime between 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Jeff Janssen.

Police have few clues, but believe the suspect is a man with size 12 feet.

"We measured prints left in the snow," said Assistant Chief Sue Stawarski, "The shoe prints are very large and indicate men's size 12, unless it was somebody wearing very big shoes."

The bikes - one a 2003 red Bourget Blackjack Softail the other a 2006 American Iron Horse Slammer Softail- each have a value of $35,000. The trailer is valued at $6,500, police said.

The owner normally keeps the bikes in the garage, but parked the trailer outside Tuesday while he worked on a project.

"It appears as if somebody just backed up and drove away with it," Stawarski said.

The suspect was last seen driving southbound on Red Fox Road towards 22nd Street, police said. They did not have a good description of the suspect's vehicle.
