ST. PAUL, Minn. - The 2012 Minnesota State Fair's commemorative poster features a red rooster as its centerpiece.

Fair officials unveiled the poster Wednesday. Artist Joe Heffron's work in colored pencil features a rooster surrounded by other iconic elements of the Great Minnesota Get-Together such as a corndog and Fairchild the State Fair Gopher.

Officials say Heffron's work was chosen from among 50 after a call for entries just before the 2011 State Fair.

The poster is ninth in a series of annual artwork created exclusively for the Minnesota State Fair. It will be on display in the Fine Arts Center during the 12-day run of the 2012 fair.

Minnesota Public Radio News ( http://bit.ly/LailAG) reports commemorative art posters and a limited number of signed prints featuring Heffron's art are available for purchase at http://www.msffoundation.org.
