State parks cancel events, dangerous windchills forecast

Last update: February 8, 2008 - 5:20 PM

Many of Minnesota's state parks are already canceling events in anticipation of dangerously low wind chills this weekend.

Most of Minnesota is under a wind chill watch, and forecasters are advising people to stay indoors Saturday and Sunday.

An ice harvest event at Itasca State Park will be rescheduled, and snowshoe hikes at Jay Cooke State Park will be held later this month.

A snowshoe hike at Sibley State Park has been canceled and candlelight events at Rice Lake State Park are also canceled.
