Lightning suspected in house fire that killed 2

Lightning is the suspected culprit in a house fire in south-central Minnesota that killed two people, authorities said Monday.

The fire broke out about 4:45 a.m. Sunday at a house on the northeast edge of Blue Earth, according to the Faribault County Sheriff's Office.

Rudy Carmona, 39, who lived in the home, and Fidel Bello, 47, of nearby Elmore, Minn., were found dead on the living room floor while the house was still burning, the Sheriff's Office said.

There were no functioning smoke detectors in the home.
