Distracted driving

Driver distraction contributes to about 20 percent of all crashes. It led to 208 deaths and nearly 26,000 injuries from 2008 through 2010.

Minnesota, 34 other states and the District of Columbia forbid texting while driving. Nine states, not including Minnesota, and D.C. bar hand-held cellphone use. No states forbid the use of hands-free devices for all drivers.
