Thieves steal purse as woman pays respects

Last update: January 29, 2008 - 11:58 PM

While a woman paid her respects at an Apple Valley funeral home, someone broke her car's right rear side window, made off with her purse and used her credit cards to buy hundreds of dollars in goods at a nearby Target, police said Tuesday.

Police had little trouble finding the scene of the crime. It's right next to headquarters.

A man and a woman are suspects in the crime, which occurred three weeks ago, and store surveillance images have given investigators quite a bit to go on in their effort to find and arrest them.

Apple Valley police detective Sean McKnight said the "smash and grab" from the locked car occurred in the lot between the Henry W. Anderson funeral home on Garrett Avenue and police headquarters.
