Metro area gets spring dousing

  • Updated: March 19, 2012 - 11:46 PM

An early spring storm Monday night dumped much needed rain but also brought in gusts of wind that damaged roofs and brought down power lines, leaving thousands briefly without power.

Wind gusts hit up to 55 mph during the storm, which dumped between 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch in most of the metro area, said Jim Richardson, National Weather Service forecaster.

Minnesota's dry landscape could get another hit of moisture on Tuesday. Afternoon showers are likely, Richardson said.
