Brooklyn Center voters on Tuesday elected Lin Myszkowski to fill an open City Council seat.

Myszkowski, 52, a former member of the Osseo School Board, beat Mark Yelich, 53, a data analyst. Yelich previously served on the council from 2007 through 2010. The vote was 517 to 368.

Myszkowski will serve the remaining year of Tim Roche's term. Roche resigned from the five-member council in August because of a family move.

Myszkowski and Yelich were the top vote-getters in a special primary in December.
