The winning ticket was purchased Saturday at a store in Grand Rapids, Minn.
A couple from Grand Rapids, Minn., claimed their $2.61 million winnings on Wednesday after buying the lucky Hot Lotto ticket in Itasca County last weekend.
Sandy and Don Conrad accepted the symbolic mega-sized check at State Lottery headquarters in Roseville. They said Sandy bought the winning ticket Saturday at the River Road Market in Grand Rapids.
The Conrads are taking their winnings all at once, meaning that, rather than a 25-year annuity option of $104,400 per year before taxes, they will collect $1,985,914 before taxes ($1,345,457 after taxes).
Sandy Conrad, 61, works at the Grand Rapids Herald-Review newspaper. Don Conrad, 64, is retired.
The Hot Lotto jackpot starts at $1 million and grows until someone wins the twice-weekly drawings, held Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Players select five numbers from 1 to 39 and then a Hot Ball number from 1 to 19. Sandy Conrad's winning numbers were 1-4-9-17-21 and 10 for the Hot Ball.
