Dan and Penny Privette talked about their daughter, St. Croix Lutheran senior Jenna Privette, who suffered a serious injury playing hockey Friday night. She hit the boards during the game, and lost feeling in most of her body immediately afterwards. The couple was photographed in front of Hennepin County Medical Center on 1/7/12.

A week after a Benilde-St. Margaret hockey player suffered a paralyzing injury on the ice, another high school player is in the hospital with a serious hockey injury.

Jenna Privette, a senior at St. Croix Lutheran High School in West St. Paul, was checked from behind during her hockey game Friday night and fell face-down on the ice, unable to move, her parents said Saturday.

Privette was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where she remained Saturday night, undergoing tests.

She still has no feeling in her legs, but has experienced tingling and pain in her arms, her parents, Dan and Penny Privette of Burnsville, said Saturday in an interview at the hospital.

"She's irritable and in a lot of pain," Dan Privette said, "which is, in a way, kind of good."

Jenna Privette had felt a connection with 16-year-old Jack Jablonski, gravely injured Dec. 30 when he was back-checked in a junior varsity game against Wayzata. He later underwent spinal surgery, and is unlikely to walk or skate again, doctors have said.

Privette, who plays for the Minnehaha Saints, a coop of three schools, had encouraged her classmates to wear white in his honor and led a team prayer for him after a game. She had her dad buy three rolls of red tape so that she and her teammates could wrap their sticks and shinpads with it and adorn their helmets with red crosses.

On Thursday, Privette let her Facebook friends know about Friday's game: "Playing for #jabs13," she had written.
