The man whose body was found over the weekend in a cornfield about 65 miles west of the Twin Cities has been identified as that of a 56-year-old who had been reported missing last month, authorities said.
The body of Robert J. Verdon, of Cosmos, Minn., was discovered Saturday by a farmer harvesting in Brookfield Township, the Renville County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
An autopsy was completed at the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Ramsey. However, the official cause and manner of Verdon's death is not yet known.
In early September, the Sheriff's Office recovered an abandoned vehicle that belonged to Verdon near the cornfield where his body was discovered.
After the vehicle was found, Verdon's family filed a missing person's report with authorities in Meeker County, where Verdon resided.
