Hundreds of thousands of blenders sold by Minneapolis-based Target are being recalled after several people suffered serious cuts to their hands and fingers.

The recall announced Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) involves about 304,000 Chefmate six-speed blenders, model BL-10. They were made in China for Select Brands of Lenexa, Kan.

The agency cautioned consumers to stop using the blenders immediately and return them to any Target store to receive a full refund.

While the blender is on, the plastic pitcher can separate from the blade assembly and leave the rotating blades exposed in the base, according to the CPSC.

Target and the CPSC said they have received 11 reports of this malfunction, with seven of them involving serious cuts to fingers and hands.

The blenders were sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide from late 2007 to February 2011 for about $14.
