What/where: Synthetic marijuana, bought at Maharaja’s in St. Paul on July 28.
Claim: “Compliant”
Test Result: ILLEGAL — contains JWH-210 and JWH-250, which were banned July 1 in Minnesota.
Reaction: Owner Kawaljit Bhatia said he was surprised, adding that a manager does his buying. “If it’s illegal there’s no way I’m going to do it. I might as well start selling cocaine and marijuana then.” He said from now on, he would sell such products only after paying to have them tested himself.


ARMAGEDDON
What/where: Synthetic marijuana, bought at Last Place on Earth in Duluth on July 11.
Claim: “Minnesota Compliant”
Test Result: ILLEGAL — contains JWH-210, which was banned July 1 in Minnesota.
Reaction: Owner Jim Carlson said his supplier, Armageddon Inc., “had a miscommunication or misunderstanding” but has since replaced JWH-210 with another compound. “They realize it wasn’t compliant and took it out,” Carlson said.


Bay Spice XO
What/where: Synthetic marijuana, bought from wholeearthpackaging.com on Aug. 25.
Claim: “49 state legal (our apologies to Oregon)”
Test Result:  ILLEGAL — contains JWH-210, which was banned July 1 in Minnesota
Reaction: Whole Earth Packaging of Sacramento, Calif., did not respond to an e-mail and phone request for an explanation.
