Minneapolis Park Board to set 2008 budget tonight

The proposed budget includes raising or instituting fees for park services and the elimination of some ice skating rinks.

The Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board will adopt its 2008 budget during a meeting tonight in City Hall Room 317.

On Tuesday, the board heard from citizens who gave input and feedback on the proposed budget , that includes raising or instituting fees for park services and the elimination of some ice skating rinks.

The board included higher fees as a way to plug a $2 million funding gap that resulted when it received less tax money than anticipated.

The meeting begins at 5:05 p.m. The board's budget is the third item on the agenda.
