A decision on whether to charge a Washington County commissioner with a felony has been delayed until further investigation by Woodbury police, prosecutors said Thursday.

Longtime commissioner William Pulkrabek, 41, has been accused of choking a woman on his bed, then pulling her down the stairs by her hair and out of a Woodbury townhouse, according to a police report of the Memorial Day incident.

Pulkrabek represents Oakdale, Lake Elmo, Landfall and a portion of Woodbury. Oakdale police have said that the alleged victim isn't Pulkrabek's wife, Lori Pulkrabek, an Oakdale City Council member.

Jay Alberio, a Woodbury police commander, said the Ramsey County Attorney's Office asked his department for more information. He declined to comment further.

Washington County transferred the case to Ramsey County to avoid any perceived conflict of interest.
