Hmong celebrate new year at St. Paul RiverCentre

Thousands of people who are a part of Minnesota's Hmong population are celebrating their new year.

A celebration at St. Paul's RiverCentre begins today and runs through Sunday. Minnesota's Hmong will don traditional outfits, and there will be dancing and singing performances.

Hmong goods will be for sale as well as traditional ethnic foods.

It's the event's 31st year.

Governor Pawlenty and his wife, Mary, will speak today to help kick off the event.
