A home invasion in Richfield this morning was not a random occurrence and a man inside the home was "targeted," said Lt Todd Sandell.
Three suspects broke in around 2:30 a.m. and attacked a 34-year-old man in the basement of the house on the 7500 block of 2nd Avenue S. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis where he was being treated for a knife wound to the chest and a lacerated shoulder, Sandell said.
Three other people in the house were not hurt. Two who were sleeping upstairs heard the commotion, fled the house and called police.
Sandell said all indications are "that this is not a random invasion." The victim "had something the suspects wanted."
No one has been arrested, but Sandell said police have good leads. They are looking for three suspects, a Hispanic male who is in his late 20s, a white male in his 30s and a white female who is her late teens or early 20s.
Anybody with information can call Richfield Police at 612-861-9800.
