Incumbents Rebecca Cave and Will Rossbach moved forward in the Maplewood City Council race Tuesday. So did newcomers DelRay (Rocky) Rokke and John Nephew.

Sixteen percent of voters turned out Tuesday night, which for a local primary is significant, said Karen Guilfoile, Maplewood Citizens Services manager. Turnout was 10 percent in 2005.

Nephew was "astonished and humbled." Rossbach was excited to see so many voters. Rokke said he's ready to get some volunteers. Cave couldn't be reached to comment.
