Commuters faced morning delays

Last update: September 6, 2007 - 9:34 AM

The good news is that there are no major accidents on Twin Cities freeways and major highways this morning. The bad news is that there are lots and lots of vehicles on the roads.

The worst congestion as of 7:50 a.m. appears to be on southbound Hwy. 280 from Interstate Hwy. 35W to Interstate 94 in Minneapolis.

“It’s stop and go,” said Tom Heininger of the Regional Transportation Management Center in Roseville.

Southbound Interstate Hwy. 35W jams up where it intersects with Hwy. 36.

Slowdowns also are reported on northbound I-35W in the vicinity of Crosstown Hwy. 62, southbound I-94 from Broadway into downtown Minneapolis and on Cedar Avenue from County Road 38 in Apple Valley up to the Minnesota River.

Drivers on I-694 from I-94 in Brooklyn Center to I-35W in New Brighton will encounter delays, Heininger said.
