Somalis among the missing
Leaders of the Somali community were concerned that as many as seven Somalis, many of whom live in neighborhoods near the bridge, may be among the missing, according to Omar Jamal of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center.
Jamal said that Sadiya Sahal, 23, and her 20-month old daughter, Hana, were en route from St. Paul to the East Africa restaurant in the family's Toyota Highlander when she placed a call, saying she was tied up in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
That was the last anyone heard of Sahal, a graduate of Washburn High School who was taking classes as a nursing assistant at the International Institute of Minnesota in St. Paul, Jamal said.
Twins wearing I-35 decals
A day after the Twins postponed a game, they drew a healthy crowd Friday night.
"But things are far from normal, we know that," said Twins president Dave St. Peter.
A large replica of an I-35 highway sign with the date 8-1-07 was displayed behind home plate.
Twins players will wear a similar decal on their batting helmets for the rest of the season.
The team hasn't said when it will reschedule the groundbreaking for its new ballpark that was to be Thursday night.
"We'll do the groundbreaking when it feels right," St. Peter said. "It's not our first priority."
