What's open, what's closed on Columbus Day

Today is the official observance of Columbus Day

Post offices are closed. The 24-hour facility at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is open, and Express Mail will be delivered in the Twin Cities.

Supermarkets and shopping malls are open normal hours.

Metro Transit buses and light-rail trains will follow normal weekday schedules. For route information call 612-373-3333 or go to www.metrotransit.org. Suburban bus lines will follow normal schedules. Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, Maple Grove Transit, Plymouth Metrolink, Southwest Metro Transit and Metro Mobility will have normal service.

Parking meters will not be enforced in Minneapolis and in St. Paul. Minneapolis parks will enforce meters unless noted on the meter. The University of Minnesota will enforce meters.

Minneapolis city offices are closed. St. Paul and most other local and state government offices are open, but federal offices are closed.

Hennepin and Ramsey County libraries are open. Minneapolis libraries are closed every Monday. St. Paul libraries are closed. Most other suburban libraries are open. Call for hours.

Most recreation centers are open. Call for hours.
