YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
The Wright County Sheriff is asking for the public's help in finding a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident which injured a teenage bicyclist.
A 15-year-old boy was biking about 8:30 p.m. Saturday he was struck from behind by a vehicle heading south on County Road 42 about ¼-mile south of 85th Street in Otsego. The bicyclist was thrown into the ditch, the Wright County Sheriff said.
The vehicle, believed to be a 2002 or newer Ford Ranger pick-up truck, the Sheriff said.
The boy, who had been on his way to a friend's house, managed to walk about 1 mile to his home but was unable to recall any details of the accident or that he had been hit. The Sheriff attributes that inability to a head injury he suffered. The next morning, the boy was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The boy's mangled bicycle and his shoes were found in a ditch along County Road 42 Sunday morning. Evidence at the scene indicated that a pick-up truck hit the boy. The truck likely has damage to the right front area and possibly is missing a turn signal, the Sheriff said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Wright County Sheriff at 763-682-7622.
