A driver died and two passengers were in critical condition after being thrown from a car in a rollover crash early this morning in Minneapolis, according to the State Patrol.

The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m., the State Patrol said, on Hiawatha Avenue near Third Street.

The driver, a 44-year-old Minneapolis man, died at the scene. A woman from Champlin and a man whose residence was unknown early Saturday were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

It was not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
