At least 65 firefighters from 13 companies battled fires in two unoccupied residences in south Minneapolis early this morning .

A single-family home and a duplex in the 2900 block of Clinton Ave. S., were first reported burning about 1:51 a.m., said deputy chief Alex Jackson. Two more alarms, at 2:01 and 2:15 a.m., brought more firefighters to the scene.

Both buildings were burning when firefighters arrived, and the roofs of both buildings collapsed, Jackson said

One firefighter was burned on the hand or wrist, Jackson said.

Crews were still dousing hotspots about 5 a.m. Investigators were still at the scene at 8:15 a.m.
