Hinckley girl killed in crash is identified

Authorities have identified the girl who died Friday after the car she was riding in went off the road and crashed into a tree while fleeing police.

Sarah A. Brickman, 16, of Hinckley was in the front seat of the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am driven by Gene Brinig, 18, of Corcoran, according to the State Patrol. Brinig was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he was in fair condition today. Also in the car was Brickman's 14-year-old brother, who suffered minor injuries.

According to the State Patrol's website:

A state trooper and a Pine County deputy saw the Trans Am going 70 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone in Hinckley about 1 a.m. Friday.

The trooper tried to stop the car the car, but Brinig turned off the headlights, sped up and fled. Authorities pursued but lost sight of the car.

Brinig lost control of the car, drove off the road and crashed.
