Lowry Avenue bridge closed Tuesday for inspection

Last update: September 18, 2007 - 7:25 AM

The Lowry Avenue bridge over the Mississippi River in north Minneapolis will be shut down between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., starting today as inspectors check for any structural deficiencies.

Traffic will be rerouted until inspections are complete. In some cases, the bridge might be closed later than 6 p.m., according to the Hennepin County Transportation Department.

The bridge is being inspected because it showed up on a Minnesota Department of Transportation list of bridges that are "fracture critical."
