A strike by health care, technical and clerical workers at the University of Minnesota continued into its second week, with no schedule for additional negotiations.

State mediator Jan Johnson said Monday that she hasn't called the two sides back to the bargaining table.

"It's going to take someone to call and say they're willing to move," Johnson said.

About 1,000 workers remain on strike over wages across the University of Minnesota system, roughly the same as when the action began Wednesday. About a third of the 3,150 workers covered by the AFSCME contracts are on strike, according to university officials.

Some services at the university's veterinary hospital have been limited, but emergency cases are being handled. The dental clinic has only one of two floors open. In addition, some professors have moved classes off campus.
