Victims of the recent flooding in southeastern Minnesota can start receiving information about disaster aid at recovery centers that open today in Winona, Houston and Fillmore counties.
Officials plan on opening additional centers this week in Olmsted, Steele and Wabasha counties once they find suitable locations.
WHO WILL BE THERE: Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration and several state and local agencies and organizations will be on hand to answer flood relief questions.
If possible, people needing disaster aid should pre-register with FEMA, the Red Cross and their local county social service agencies before they come to one of the centers, but they can register for assistance when they arrive.
Registrations with FEMA can be done by calling 1-800-621-3362 or visiting www.fema.gov. Red Cross registrations can be done by calling 1-800-733-2767, or by visiting www.redcross.org.
HOURS:
The centers will be open today from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to noon.
LOCATIONS:
Winona County, the JC Penney building, 1858 W. Service Dr. in Winona;
Houston County, the Hokah Fire Station and Community Center, Hwys. 44 and 16, Hokah.
For Fillmore County, TRW Automotive, West Building, 901 Home St., Rushford.
