South Minneapolis shootings kill man, injure four

A pair of shootings Saturday night in south Minneapolis left a man dead and four others wounded.

About 7:40 p.m., a man was shot and seriously injured near 40th Street and 4th Avenue S., police said.

About 10 minutes later, officers were called to a shooting 3 miles away, near 26th Street and Cedar Avenue, where four men were shot. One was killed and another had serious injuries, Minneapolis police Sgt. Don Smulski said.

Police entered a house in the area, he said, but no suspects were immediately taken into custody.

Police were not sure whether the shootings were connected.
