Man sentenced for driving into family.
An Apple Valley man was sentenced Monday for driving into and injuring a woman and three of her children last year as they walked along Burnsville Parkway.
Joshua M. Lindgren, 19, who had pleaded to four counts of criminal vehicular operation, was sentenced to four months in jail and more than five months of electronic home monitoring.
Dakota County District Judge William Thuet also put Lindgren on probation for five years and ordered him to pay his victims' medical costs and to follow chemical-dependency treatment recommendations. Tests showed he had morphine and cocaine in his system when he crashed into the family as it walked along a parkway sidewalk on the morning of June 22, 2006. Witnesses saw Lindgren's car swerve across traffic lanes before jumping the curb and hitting the family.
The mother, Stacy Erickson, 29, was pregnant and delivered her child without problems, and her three injured children have recovered, said Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom. Erickson, who was pushing her two younger children in a stroller, suffered a broken leg. The children in the stroller, ages 1 and 3, had scrapes and bruises. Her 4-year-old daughter sustained two broken legs and other injuries.
