Robber steals student's iPod

Last update: February 8, 2007 - 9:14 AM

An armed robber stole an iPod from an Asian-languages and literature senior from the University of Minnesota a week ago, the Minnesota Daily is reporting.

The robber was likely in for a surprise: Everything in the iPod was in Japanese, the student, Jasmine Egli, told the newspaper.

"I was wondering, 'What's going to happen to it?' " she said.

Egli was near the intersection of University Avenue and 3rd Avenue S.E. at about 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 when the robber came up behind her and told her he wanted her iPod.

Egli said he showed her a gun in his coat.

She said she asked the robber if she could keep the penguin cover she'd made for the player. The robber dropped the cover on the ground and left, she told the paper.

The Minnesota Daily report said investigators are trying to determine whether similar robberies have been reported.

The suspect has not been arrested, the paper said.
