South Dakota trooper arrests Minnesota man on kidnapping charges

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper has arrested a Minnesota man on charges he raped and kidnapped a teenage girl.

Ernest Longoria of Elbow Lake, Minn., was jailed in Brookings, the Highway Patrol said in a news release Tuesday.

Longoria faces three counts of kidnapping, one criminal conduct charge and one domestic abuse charge, the agency said.

The Highway Patrol said Longoria is accused of tying up, raping and abducting the girl from Donnelly, Minn. The girl told authorities Longoria had intended to take her to Texas, the patrol said.

The Highway Patrol was alerted when Longoria's passenger asked someone at a rest area in Deuel County to call the authorities.
