A man stopped a woman as she walked to her car in downtown St. Paul early Saturday, demanded that she remove her shoes and then licked her toes and feet.
The man, a 27-year-old from St. Paul, ran when he noticed people nearby but was captured two blocks away by police, department spokesman Tom Walsh said.
The woman, 24, was not injured. The incident occurred near 4th and Cedar Streets around 1 a.m. Saturday.
The suspect, who has an extensive criminal record that runs from loitering to burglary and domestic assault, was booked for robbery and will make his first appearance in Ramsey County District Court today.
The man put the woman's shoes, cell phone and purse into his backpack before running off, police said.
