DRAYTON, N.D. - A bridge over the Red River has been closed temporarily after an inspection by Minnesota officials, the North Dakota Department of Transportation said.

The Drayton bridge, which links Hwy. 66 in North Dakota and Hwy. 11 in northwestern Minnesota, is scheduled for replacement in 2009. North Dakota transportation officials said in a statement that the two states decided a more thorough inspection was needed.

The bridge is used heavily by farm trucks and is in an area that is routinely hit by spring flooding.
