Minneapolis' latest homicide victim is a man in his 50s, police said.

Officers were called to 14th Street and Portland Avenue S. about 4 a.m. Friday and found the shooting victim, said Sgt. Tammy Diedrich.

The identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has not been released.

Lt. Amelia Huffman, head of the homicide unit, declined to discuss a motive but said that the killing was not random.

No arrests have been made.

The homicide is the 37th in the city this year and the first in nearly three weeks. The last one occurred Sept. 20, when a man was stabbed to death on the 2600 block of Longfellow Avenue S.

At this point last year there were 48 homicides.
