Two men who died in a head-on crash during rush hour Friday in Maplewood have been identified.

Also, a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck Saturday afternoon north of Belle Plaine in Scott County killed the motorcyclist.

The Minnesota State Patrol gave this account of Friday's accident:

Timothy T. Jones, 24, of Oakdale, was driving south on Hwy. 61 near Beam Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Friday, when he cut across the median and collided with a vehicle driven by Kong M. Vang, 18, of Linwood Township, which is west of Stacy in Anoka County.

Vang's vehicle crashed into a third car driven by Karen Stocksett, 58, of St. Clair Shores, Mich.

Jones and Vang died. Stocksett wasn't hurt.

The two men in Vang's vehicle -- a 15-year-old and 16-year-old -- suffered minor injuries.

All involved were wearing seat belts.

Alcohol was detected in Jones' system, the patrol said.

Saturday's crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. at Hwy. 25 and County Road 40, where the westbound motorcycle broadsided the northbound pickup.

The driver of the truck, a 58-year-old Belle Plaine woman, was treated for minor injuries. The State Patrol indicated it would release the identity of the motorcyclist today.
