FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- We're settled in at Gillette Stadium for the Vikings-Patriots game later today. First off, the stadium is beautiful and the weather is perfect for football.

The Vikings made a lot of news leading up to today's game, starting of course with Brett Favre's injured ankle. All signs point toward Favre starting despite a stress fracture in his left ankle and a fractured left heel. Favre is hoping to extend his NFL record for consecutive starts to 292 games.

The question becomes whether Favre can finish the game. If he's not moving well or he's putting himself at risk and struggling throwing the ball, Coach Brad Childress likely would pull Favre and put in Tarvaris Jackson, who hasn't taken meaningful snaps in a game since 2008.

The game also marks Randy Moss' return to New England after being traded on Oct. 6. Moss' return became a sidebar this week because of Favre's injury, but no doubt he's motivated to show his former team that it made a mistake by trading him.

Both Childress and tight Visanthe Shiancoe said this week that Moss helped the coaching staff with his insight on the Patriots scheme and tendencies. Shiancoe said Moss told them that the Patriots have "a lot of vulnerabilities in their defense. ... We have a lot of insight on the defense."

Apparently that didn't sit well with Moss. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Moss was annoyed that Childress and Shiancoe told reporters about his input. Just more drama in a week filled with it.

We should get in the inactives and any starter changes shortly. Check back for updates throughout the day.
