Buses replacing light-rail trains to Mall, airport this weekend

Last update: July 25, 2009 - 8:13 AM

Anyone planning to take the Hiawatha light-rail line to the airport or the Mall of America this weekend will have to take the bus.

Metro Transit officials are shutting down the train from the 46th Street station to the end of the line at the mall so crews can undertake construction work.

Train service is expected to resume between 46th Street and the Humphrey Terminal station on Sunday morning.

Buses will continue to replace train service between the Humphrey Terminal and the mall until 3:30 a.m. Monday. The train service to the end of the line stopped at 11 p.m. Friday

According to Metro Transit, buses will operate more frequently than trains, but bus trips will take longer than train rides.
