United Airlines shaves a few bucks off 'economy-plus' upgrades this week

Last update: November 9, 2009 - 2:51 PM

CHICAGO - United Airlines is shaving a few bucks off upgrades to roomier "economy plus" seats through Friday.

The airline, a unit of UAL Corp., charges customers the base fare plus the extra "economy plus" charge to sit at the front of the coach cabin.

The cheapest upgrade on the shortest flights will start at $5 each way instead of $9 each way through Friday. The upgrades cost more on longer flights. The airline said it would charge $57 each way instead of $64 for San Francisco-Boston trips.
