The photographer: Linda Ferguson of Brooklyn Park. The scene: Ferguson toured Switzerland in fall 2011 with an expert guide: a friend who grew up in Lucerne. She captured the "very Swissness" of Chapel Bridge in Lucerne. "As I walked across the Chapel Bridge, the oldest covered bridge in Europe, it seemed incredible that this bridge stood intact from the 13th century until 1993, when a discarded cigarette burned down the center part of the bridge. Fortunately it was restored, although many of the paintings under the roof were lost forever," she wrote in an e-mail.
The "Making of Harry Potter'' tour in London is as much about how the movies were made as it is about what was in the movies. The tour, mostly self-guided, takes place in two vast Warner Bros. sound studios on the Leavesden Studios lot, about 20 miles northwest of London, where the Harry Potter movies were filmed. For fans, it's one OMG moment after another: the Gryffindor common room, Dumbledore's office, Harry's invisibility cloak, a riot of Hogwarts' portraits of past witches and wizards.
