Here's what's happening this weekend, events-wise, at Twin Cities farmers markets (for a complete list -- and a map -- of metro-area farmers markets, go here). All events are free and open to the public. Another lure? Free and delicious samples. Another reason to shop: Sweet corn.

Saturday: Watch Tammy Wong, chef/owner of Rainbow Chinese Restaurant & Bar, as she shops for locally raised vegetables at the Minneapolis Farmers Market and then turns her purchases into a delicious menu and shares recipes and samples. (10:30 a.m.)

Saturday: Celebrate farm-raised walleye, trout and salmon from Mill City Farmers Market vendor Star Prairie Trout Farm -- and Alaska caught salmon from Wild Run Salmon -- with cooking demonstrations by Heather Hartman and Brook Collins of Spoonriver. (10 a.m.). At the University of Minnesota's tasting booth, get a sample or two of fresh, seasonal beets.
