G-o-o-o-a-a-a-l!

One of the hottest, or coolest, places to watch World Cup soccer is proving to be Midtown Global Market. Crowds of fans have gathered in the market's two TV viewing areas to cheer on their teams, while in many cases being able to eat the appropriate cuisine. The market, at 920 E. Lake St. in Minneapolis, will show all remaining matches, with food specials, giveaways and more. Matches are daily at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (remember the time difference from South Africa) through June 29. The quarterfinals are at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 2-3; semis are at 1:30 p.m. July 6-7; finals at 1:30 p.m. July 10-11.

Hungry for art?

Check out the art exhibit at Corazon in downtown Minneapolis, (1026 Washington Av. S., 612-333-1662), where there will be posters that turn dinner on its ear, with historical figures made of fruits, veggies and grains. Lady Liberty, right, gives new meaning to "green" with a robe of romaine lettuce and a crown of chile peppers and zucchini. The posters, produced by Taste editor Lee Svitak Dean, also can be seen at leedeanbooks.com. The exhibit opens Friday with a public reception from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. The exhibit continues through July 30.

Ve-e-e-g-g-g-g-ies!

So the vegetables in your first vegetable garden are thriving. Harvest is nigh. But what exactly do you do with kohlrabi? Ten Twin Cities chefs provide the answers in a new display at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum as part of its "Powerhouse Plants" exhibit. "Chef's Row" features plantings used in the chefs' favorite vegetable recipes. Participants include Beth Dooley, Raghavan Iyer, Lynne Rossetto Kasper, Brenda Langton, Michael Rostance and Tammy Wong. For the recipes, visit www.arboretum.umn.edu/chefsrow.aspx.
