Weekly wine deal: Riesling

Riesling from Down Under fits the season (or any season).

Last update: November 11, 2009 - 12:49 PM

I'm starting to hear that local consumers are finally warming to riesling. If so -- or if not -- they could do a lot worse that the McWilliams Hanwood Estate Riesling from Southeast Australia. It's clean and lean, with a touch of lushness on the end, and filled with tropical-fruit and lime flavors throughout. At around $12, it's a great value and a wonderful addition to most any meal, but particularly the upcoming feast involving a certain large bird.
