It was a very loud year, judging by the late Steve Cannon's shirt from this 1971 photo. He was a morning announcer at KSTP radio, and part of a story on celebrity dads that ran prior to Father's Day. The other dads in the mix were Alan Page, then a Vikings defensive tackle (and now justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court) and Rudy Perpich, then lieutenant governor (and later governor).
Family meals maintain strong family ties, Cannon noted in the article. "We don't try to solve problems, nor is it a time for discipline. ... That would just spoil the meal. But we do discuss curent events, and sports, of course."
With his early-morning show, Cannon's biggest meal of the day was at noon, at which time he reheated what his wife had cooked earlier. "I'm not a cook, but I am a heater-upper," he said. This veal stew was a frequent meal in the Cannon household.
True to 1971 form, we don't learn the name of his wife, who is referred to only as Mrs. Cannon.
