Weekly wine deal: White

This seafood-loving white shines in any kind of summer.

This is my 23rd summer in the Twin Cities, and the absolute best one weather-wise. If it had been a little hotter, though, I would have consumed even more Picpoul de Pinet, a brisk and sprightly varietal from southern France. The Hugues Beaulieu is a great exemplar, with crisp acidity and clean citrus flavors, plus some melon peeking in on the palate. Pastas with fresh veggies and almost any kind of seafood would absolutely rock with this lively white, a real value at about $10.
