Potato salad seems as much a part of summer celebrations as hamburgers and hot dogs. I remember family picnics at the Lake Harriet picnic grounds up the hill from the bandstand. Granny, my mom and the aunts spread a tablecloth on one of the long tables and unpacked the lunch. A big bowl of potato salad was always part of the meal.
I don't remember what else we had. I don't remember swimming in the lake. I only remember the potato salad. Even then, I must have craved carbs. This recipe, a little more piquant than the usual potato salad, will make a great addition to your own summer picnic.
