Sandwichlike items Was it only last week that Mr. Tidbit was discussing several brands of frozen flatbread melts? (It was.) It seems that there are several other new products in that vein.

Besides Stouffer's already numerous flatbread pizzas and panini, we now have three kinds of Stouffer's stromboli: Chicken Broccoli Cheddar, Pepperoni & Provolone and Italian-Style Supreme (Italian sausage, pepperoni and mozzarella). If you ask Mr. Tidbit -- and even if you don't -- these are probably calzones, not stromboli, as they appear to be stuffed into a thin crusty bread pouch, not rolled up in a thin crusty bread.

And Kashi presents three new sesame pocket bread sandwiches: Chicken Rustico, Veggie Medley and Turkey Fiesta. These could be calzones, too, but they're not Italian.

Tiny bars Kellogg's, makers of innumerable kinds of Pop-Tarts, now brings us Cinnabon bars (original and caramel flavors), which look on the box like frosted Pop-Tarts with a bit of filling showing through the top. Not so, especially in two particulars:

They are much smaller -- a surprisingly tiny 31/2 by 11/2 inches, and maybe half an inch thick -- which you wouldn't guess by looking at the picture on the box, nor would you infer it from the size of the very roomy 6- by 11/2- by (almost) 7-inch box.

And the box front says "Tastes great warm," but the difficult-to-find, tiny-type instructions aren't for toasters, as with Pop-Tarts, but for microwave ovens, and the instructions warn, in tiny red type, "Do not place in toaster or toaster oven." Mr. Tidbit doesn't know what happens to them in a toaster oven, but if you dropped one of these into a toaster, you'd never see it again.

Filled waffles Also new from Kellogg's are Eggo Nutri-Grain whole-grain toaster waffles with a little strawberry filling (not strawberry bits scattered through the waffle). They weigh more than regular Eggo waffles, so there are only six in a 12.3-ounce package instead of 10. But they warm up nicely in the toaster.
