Vincent on Nicollet Mall cooks up a burger made with Angus beef, smoked gouda and braised short ribs.
The latest issue of Food Network Magazine is out this week with the ultimate burger in each of the 50 states, and Minnesota's honored hunk of ground beef resides in an upscale downtown Minneapolis restaurant.
"The Vincent Burger" can be had at Vincent -- A Restaurant on Nicollet Mall -- for the princely sum of $13.50. This burger is made with Angus beef, with smoked gouda and braised short ribs.
"With the help of food critics across the country, the magazine searched for the most exciting, interesting, wacky or otherwise fabulous burger in every state and chose the one burger you absolutely have to try," the Food Network explained in a news release.
If you're inclined to find a less-expensive ballyhooed burger and then put the leftover money in your gas tank, here are the Food Network's ultimate burgers in neighboring states:
• Iowa: "Famous Garbage Burger," Hickory Park Restaurant Co., Ames ($6.50 to $7.75).
• North Dakota: The moniker-challenged double cheeseburger, Hi-Ho South, Fargo ($5).
• South Dakota: "The Squealer," Hemmer Brothers, Sioux Falls ($4.30).
• Wisconsin: Brat and bacon pretzel burger, Great Dane Pub, three Madison area locations ($9.75).
