  • Updated: August 23, 2014 - 2:00 PM

WINE

Thanks to several hardworking local importers and to streamlined winemaking philosophies and practices abroad, our Italian white wine offerings hereabout have improved considerably in quantity, quality and value. The 2013 Cellaro “Bacaro” Grillo ($12) is a vibrant, vivacious offering from Sicily, with crisp citrus flavors and a marvelous minerally backbone. The juicy acidity makes this a mouthwatering, versatile food wine, although it’s also a swell beverage for lakeside or patio sipping. Fish tacos, chicken fajitas and salads made with ingredients that were on the ground or the vine that morning are among the great options.

Available at Thomas, Lowry Hill, Bacchus, Stinson, Zipp’s and Hiawatha Falls.
