Wine: 'Entry level' gruner

  • Updated: December 22, 2013 - 2:00 PM

Wine

The more expensive gruner veltliners are profound wines, but it’s easy to find seriously tasty gruner at the “entry level.” The 2012 Lenz Moser Niederösterreich Gruner ($13 for 1 liter) is sweeter than the spendier stuff but has enough minerality to glide through the mouth for a refreshing, slightly dry finish. It’s supple, smooth and spicy. Try it with most any Asian food with some kick or with roast pork tenderloin or ham. Available at Kowalski’s, the St. Anthony Village and Edina munis, Sorella, Hennepin Lake and Liquor Boy.
